Iraq and Turkey have agreed to boost strategic and economic ties between the two countries.

Fresh fighting reported in Basra ... eliminate terrorist threats between the two countries. Relations between Ankara and Baghdad have often been strained by Kurdish PKK rebels who use bases in northern Iraq to launch attacks into neighbouring Turkey. Separately, Kuwait announced that it would send an ambassador to Baghdad in a further sign that Iraq's Sunni Arab neighbours are accepting the Shi'ite-led government.
