German Economy Minister Michael Glos has paid a surprise visit to the Iraqi capital Baghdad, becoming the first cabinet minister to visit since the US-led invasion in 2003.
The Bild am Sonntag weekly reports that he met Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and discussed German companies' interest in Iraq's oil reserves with oil minister Hussein al-Shahristani and industry minister Fawzi al-Hariri.
