The leaders of a new Mediterranean body have overcome differences over a reference to the Middle East process and drafted a final statement.
Leaders from 43 countries agreed to support the ongoing peace process between Israel and the Palestinian authority without direct mention of a two-state solution. French President Nicolas Sarkozy invited the countries to launch the Union of the Mediterranean on Sunday.
