Thousands of people have demonstrated in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, for their president, Omar al-Bashir.
The protests followed reports last week that the International Criminal Court would indict Bashir for war crimes in Darfur. Traffic came to a standstill after the demonstrators gathered outside a building where the Sudanese leader held emergency talks. After the talks the cabinet said it would not recognise any decree from the ICC. Sudan has said an ICC move against its top officials could undermine attempts to end the conflict in Darfur.
