Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir has dismissed a move to have him indicted for genocide in Dafur.
al-Bashir said the move by the International Criminal Court in The Hague was based on "lies" and that the ICC had no jurisdiction in his country. Earlier, a prosecutor for the court, Luis Moreno Ocampo, said he had invited a panel of judges to review his request to indict the Sudanese leader, whom he directly blamed for crimes against humanity. A joint United Nations/African Union peacekeeping mission in Dafur has said it will evacuate its non-essential staff, fearing retaliation.
