Greek firefighters are battling the largest wildfires so far this year, after 100 forest blazes broke out within 24 hours including several on the outskirts of Athens.
Forest fires are also burning on the islands of Kefalonia and Andros. An overnight blaze that broke out in an industrial area near Athens destroyed three factories and warehouses before being brought under control. Record temperatures last year sparked a 10-day inferno across southern Greece which killed 65 people and triggered a state of emergency in the Mediterranean country.
