Malaysian police have arrested opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim over allegations that he sodomised a male aide.
Anwar was taken to hospital, possibly for DNA tests, after spending more than six hours at Kuala Lumpur police headquarters giving a statement over the allegations levelled at him by Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan, a 23-year-old former aide. Anwar denies the allegations claiming that they are politically motivated. Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar said that Anwar is likely to spend the night in detention.
