Until then, the compensation for the lost salary will be paid by the employer. Within the scheme, the employers will have their compulsory contributions cut from 3.3 to 2.3 percent. The state will return one half of the expenditures to them. After the new, restrictive rules were introduced, the expenditures on sickness benefits fell by 1.9 billion to 8.51 billion crowns (18 percent) between February and May. The number of illnesses decreased by roughly 26 percent. The number of short-term illnesses, lasting fewer than 14 days, has shrunk by 45 percent in small firms, but the average duration of illness has increased by some days. (USD1=14.614 crowns)
