Earlier this week, Washington said Undersecretary of State Williams Burns would join EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and officials from Germany, Britain, France, Russia and China for the talks in Geneva. The US, which cut diplomatic ties with Iran shortly after its 1979 Islamic revolution, accuses Tehran of seeking to build nuclear bombs. Iran says its nuclear programme is solely aimed at producing electricity.
