The newly elected constituent assembly of Nepal has held the country's first ever presidential vote.
Lawmakers of the 601-member body cast their votes for three presidential candidates in Kathmandu on Saturday. Nepal's three main political parties filed their own candidates after failing to agree on who should become president. All three are from the minority ethnic Madhesi community which has a large representation in southern Nepal. The winner requires a simple majority in Saturday's vote. Results are expected to be announced later in the day.
