US Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has concluded his visit to Afghanistan after holding talks with President Hamid Karzai in Kabul.
The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours and included lunch at the presidential palace in the capital, covered a range of issues including terrorism, corruption and Afghanistan's narcotics trade. An Afghan official said Obama had pledged steadfast aid to Afghanistan and vowed to pursue the war on terror "with vigour" if he wins the race for the White House. Obama has previously said he would deploy an extra 10,000 US troops to Afghanistan while downscaling US forces in Iraq.
