Three German mountaineers seized by Kurdish rebels in eastern Turkey have been freed after 12 days in captivity.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told reporters in Berlin that the three men were now in the custody of Turkish security forces and were as well as could be expected after their ordeal. A Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman said the PKK freed the Germans in a mountainous area where they were found by Turkish police. It is unclear whether any ransom was paid to secure their release.
