US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has arrived in Iraq as part of a week-long international tour.
He is set to meet senior Iraqi leaders and the commander of US forces in Iraq, Gen David Petraeus, to discuss various proposals, including a possible troop pullout. On Sunday, Obama called for an immediate increase of US troops in Afghanistan, saying conditions there were precarious and urgent. Obama, Clinton hold private meeting - US media ... Kabul. An Afghan official said Obama had vowed to vigourously pursue the war on terror if he were to become President. Obama has previously said he would deploy an extra 10,000 US troops to Afghanistan while downscaling US forces in Iraq. Later in the week, he is scheduled to travel to Israel, Jordan, Germany, Britain and France.
