During her one-day visit, Merkel is scheduled to meet President Viktor Yushchenko and Prime Minister Julia Timoschenko. Energy policy, plans for the ex-Soviet state's membership of NATO und the European Union, and developments in Ukraine's domestic politics are likely to be on the agenda of the talks.
