News sources report that Serbian security forces have arrested wanted war crimes suspect Radovan Karadzic.
The news agency AP quotes the office of Serbian President Boris Tadic as saying Karadzic was captured by authorities just hours ago in Serbia. The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, based in The Hague, has indicted Karadzic for genocide during the 1992 to 1995 Bosnian war. He is believed to have been involved in the 1995 massacre of up to 8,000 Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica. The prosecutor of the UN tribunal, Serge Brammertz, welcomed news of the arrest as a "milestone in cooperation" with the court.
