Three German hostages freed by Kurdish rebels in Turkey on Sunday have arrived back in Germany.
The three men were seized on July 8 by separatist militants from the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, during a climbing expedition on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey. The rebels had demanded that Berlin stop what they called a "crackdown" on PKK supporters in Germany. The PKK has been fighting for Kurdish autonomy since 1984 and is listed as a terrorist organisation in Turkey, the European Union and the United States.
