The rival Greek and Turkish leaders of the divided island of Cyprus have met to discuss restarting re-unification talks.
Greek Cypriot leader Dimitris Christofias and his Turkish Cypriot counterpart Mehmet Ali Talat are expected to announce a date for the peace negotiations later this Friday. Diplomats from the two communities have been working together for the past five months to bring their two sides closer together. Cyprus has been split since 1974, when Turkey invaded the island in response to a pro-Greek coup.
