Local officials in Afghanistan's Ghazni province say dozens of Taliban fighters have been killed in a US airstrike.
The strike was part of an offensive to take back the district of Ajristan, which was captured by Islamist rebels earlier this week. In a separate incident in the southern province of Helmand, a British soldier serving in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed and two were wounded during fighting with the Taliban.
