UN calls for boost in output to combat food crisis ... Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has invited Pope Benedict XVI to visit Iraq.
Maliki told reporters after meeting the pontiff south of Rome that Benedict's visit would help the process of reconciliation. The Vatican said key issues in Friday's talks included the need for better security for Iraq's small Christian community. Benedict has consistently spoken out on behalf of Iraq's minority Christians who have been targeted in numerous terrorist attacks since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003.
