Police in Lebanon say as many as seven people have been killed and more than 30 injured in heavy fighting between rival sectarian factions in the northern city of Tripoli.
The violence began at dawn after a hand grenade was reportedly thrown toward a Sunni area. Sunni Muslim gunmen and Alawites broke exchanged gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades for hours before a ceasefire took hold late at night. Violence between Lebanon's warring religious communities has killed at least 18 people in the past two months.
