A deadline for captured war crimes suspect Radovan Karadzic to appeal against his transfer to the United Nations war crimes tribunal in The Hague has expired.
The former Bosnian Serb leader's legal counsel released no information about the status of the case, telling reporters that withholding details was "part of the defence strategy". However, Serbia's state-run 'Politika' newspaper reported that Karadzic's lawyer had filed a last-minute appeal against his extradition.This has not been confirmed by other sources. If an appeal were to have been filed, a panel of judges from Serbia's special war crimes court would have three days to decide on its merits.
