Afghans free foreign contractors ... However, he added that the overall security situation had deteriorated markedly in the past year. The German foreign minister blamed Pakistan in part for not doing enough to cut off support for a renewed Taliban insurgency. He called on Kabul and Islamabad to cooperate more closely, and for more effort to be put into eradicating the drug trade, a big source of funds for the Taliban.
