German airline Lufthansa says it will cancel about 10 percent of its flights to German and European destinations in the next five days.

Ebadi calls on media to foster peace ... it was introducing a new flight schedule to minimise disruption for passengers. About 5,000 members of the Verdi trade union started an open-ended strike on Monday. Verdi is demanding 9.8 per cent more pay for 50,000 ground and cabin staff. Lufthansa, Europe's second biggest airline, has offered 6.7 percent.
