Former Czech Communist Party leader not to run for chairman ... Japanese media say the cabinet of Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda is on the verge of being reshuffled in a bid to fix its crumbling popularity.
Sources within the governing Liberal Democratic Party say an announcement could be made on Friday or Monday at the latest. A possible forerunner is Taro Aso who came second last year in the LDP's leadership race. Surveys show voter support for Fukuda has declined in Japan to only 25 percent amid pension and defence sector scandals and signs of economic downturn.
