The KFOR soldiers operated in six-month missions.
Czech troops have been in Kosovo since 1999 upon a decision by the Chamber of Deputies. From August 1, they will be under the Finnish command along with the Irish, Swedish, Slovak and Latvian units. The command changes after a year. Four dozen countries, such as the USA and 20 EU member states, including the Czech Republic, have recognised the independence of Kosovo from Serbia that it declared on February 18.
