The jobs to be eliminated include those of seasonal employees, temporary workers, student assistants and retired state employees who work under contracts. The move comes after lawmakers failed to approve a budget at the start of the state's new fiscal year on July 1, with Democrats and Republicans at loggerheads over how to narrow the deficit.
