A three-storey school dormitory has collapsed in central Turkey, killing at least 16 female students.
A further 27 were injured. Rescue workers are trying to reach at least three people believed to be trapped alive in the rubble.The mayor of the village of Balcilar said a gas cannister explosion was the likely cause of the disaster. Residents had smelt gas just before the early morning explosion. Initial reports say around 60 girls aged between eight and 16 had been attending summer Quran courses.
