German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has said Iran should to stop playing for time.
He told German news magazine Der Spiegel that Tehran should respond to the Western powers with a useful answer or else face tougher sanctions. The report, due to appear in Monday's edition, quotes Steinmeier as saying that the six major powers - Britain, France, Germany, China, Russia and the US - have offered comprehensive cooperation and are committed to a diplomatic solution. Steinmeier said he hopes for ''a clear signal'' in favour of a deal, which would involve Iran suspending its nuclear activities in return for a loosening of sanctions.
