Israel's defence ministry says it plans to transfer to the West Bank scores of clan members linked to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction who fled into Israel from Gaza on Saturday. Israel's rare granting of entry followed a raid by Gaza's ruling faction Hamas on the clan's compound that left at least nine people dead.
Israeli officials say 20 wounded among 150 fugitives, including clan leader Ahmed Helles, would remain for treatment. The others would be sent to Jericho in the West Bank. That reverses Sunday's decision, when Israel sent about 30 back to Gaza. A number were detained by Hamas. Hamas-Fatah tensions escalated last week over a fatal bombing.
