The comments coincide with the 17th International AIDS Conference that is underway in Mexico City. 22,000 scientists, policymakers and health workers are meeting for six days until Saturday to discuss ways to combat the HIV/AIDS virus. More than 25 million people have died from AIDS since the disease first emerged in 1981, and 33 million people today are living with HIV.
