Iran has responded to a package of incentives to halt uranium enrichment, offered by six major powers.
In a letter to European Union foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, Tehran sought clarification on the details of the offer before pledging a more concrete answer. Representatives of the five permanent United Nations Security Council members plus Germany are scheduled to hold talks on Wednesday to discuss whether to impose further UN sanctions against Iran. Along with the threat of further sanctions, Washington has warned that the option of military action against Iran remains open if Tehran sticks to its defiant line.
