Every fourth family in Germany has a migration background.
That's according to latest figures published Tuesday by the Federal Statistics Office which found this to be the case for 27 percent of nearly 8.6 million families with children under the age of 18. According to the statistics, in 2007 four million children were being raised in Germany in 2.3 million families. Families with migration background are those where at least one of the parents is a foreign national or a naturalized German citizen.
