Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has pleaded not guilty to charge of sodomy.
The former deputy prime minister told a Kuala Lumpur court that the accusation was malicious and politically motivated. He has been freed on bail. Prosecutors have charged the 60-year-old Anwar with sodomizing a male former aide in a condominium in Kuala Lumpur back in June. Anwar's defence lawyer has said that there is no case against his client, because he has an alibi. Anwar was jailed after being convicted of sodomy 10 years ago. His conviction was later overturned.
