Chinese President Hu Jintao has expressed his concerns to U.S. President George W.
Bush over the effects of the meltdown in US financial markets. China's official Xinhua News Agency said Hu told Bush he hopes US stabilization measures would take effect as soon as possible, restore investor confidence and prevent further expansion of the crisis. Xinhua says the two also discussed upcoming global financial meetings and other forms of international cooperation to stabilize the markets.
